Ground level halls are cov ered with asphalt tile and lead di rectly to walks, making easy ac cess for its aged residents, either walking or in wheel chairs. To the south is a large grove of trees and flower gardens with a grotto. To the south is a newly planted grove of dwarf fruit trees. Scenic views from the nursing home include those of Mt. Hood and the Cascade mountains, with Gothic St. Mary's Church of Mt. Angel, and parls of the town in the foreground. Picturesque Mt. Ansel Abbey is easily seen on the knoll just east of town. The 50-bed structure is built of reinforced concrete block with brick lacinr on all but the front entrance, chapel and lounge. These are fated with stone in a warm tan and brown combination. Large picture windows in the lounge facing the tree-lined street give it the effect of an oversize living room. Of special interest is SI. Joseph's chapel on the opposite side of the entrance with its mar ble altar, donated by architect fronts Schmcrber of Salem.. Daily Mass is available to patients and personnel of the Home. Filing the suit in Linn County District Court was Frank S. Jack son. Salem, who suffered a broken back in the accident. Jackson was working as . a carpenter on the overpass when the truck carrying a crane bit it. - Namd as defendants in the suit are William Salles, the truck dri ver, and his company. United Tractor and Equipment, Inc. The overpass, under construction and not yet open to traffic, was demolished when hit by the truck carrying the crane as it tried to travel under the bridge portion. Jackson claims in the suit that he was thrown from the overpass as the truck hit it, causing him to suffer a fractured spine and brain concussion. Salles had a permit for carrying a load 13 feet 8 inches high. The damage suit claims that the truck's load extended 14 feet 10 inches above ground. Jackson was the most seriously injured of several workmen who were on the overpass. One of them filed a tio.boo damage suit against Salles and his company about a week ago. Jackson's suit asks for $100,000 general damages, $5,800 for loss of wages and $819 for medical expenses.
